Tamaqua police reported on the following incidents:

• On April 15 at 4:36 p.m. officers on patrol observed Ryan Ellis, 28, of E. Vine St., Tamaqua, standing in the parking lot of the Family Dollar Store along Center Street. Police knew there was an active warrant for his arrest from the county probation office.

When police took him into custody they found a hypodermic needle in his pants pocket, along with a clear blue bag containing one glassine packet, stamped with “truth or dare,” with green skulls, containing heroin.

Ellis was transported to the police station and later released to the custody of parole officers. Police said charges will be filed.

• Police were dispatched to the area of Boyer’s Market, on Cedar Street, at 8:37 p.m. April 18 for a disturbance in the parking lot. The communications center advised the officers that a man wearing jeans and a blue sweatshirt had knocked over a construction fence and was jumping on cars and yelling.

The officers located the man at the Family Dollar Store lot on Center Street and identified him as Matthew David Marchalk, 36, of North Warren Street, Orwigsburg.

In making contact with Marchalk, police said he appeared to be under the influence of some type of narcotics. He was sweating profusely, talking very fast and moving in all directions and not answering any questions. Officers placed him into custody. He was taken to the police station where an EMS unit was called to evaluate him.

Marchalk was cited for public drunkenness and disorderly conduct.
