BARC sponsors the Bowmanstown community yard sale

The Bowmanstown Area Residents Connected is expecting over 40 households to participate in their annual community yard sale on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Maps of all registered sellers will be distributed at several locations.

“BARC homes” at 422 Ore St. and 509 White St. will be selling perennials, Gertrude Hawk candy bars, the new D&L trail guides, and raffle tickets to win a park bench, with all proceeds funding community projects. Donations for the Palmerton Cat Project, the Carbon County Animal Shelter and Carbon County Friends of Animals will also be collected at these addresses.

Emmanuel UCC church at 509 Hamilton St. will be hosting a basket social and selling hot dogs, Faith Alive Church at 678 Pine St. will be selling pierogies, and don’t forget a few extra bucks to support our Bowmanstown Area fire company in their boot drop as you come into town.

“After this long, dark winter, we are really excited to see people out for this event. For us, it’s the sign of spring, cleaning out the old, making space for the new, and seeing familiar faces again,” BARC President Kara Scott said. “Every year, we have expanded the opportunity to support other organizations, and this year we want to support those that are rescuing animals.”

BARC is again proud to partner with the Green Drop, which will pick up donations after the sale at 2:30 p.m. from residents willing to donate what they do not sell. Donations will benefit the Military Order of the Purple Heart, a congressionally chartered veteran’s organization made up of combat-wounded veterans who provide valuable resources, programs and support dedicated to helping all veterans and their families. MOPH relies on financial, household and car donations to fund MOPH programs and services for military veterans and their families. Residents must be present to load donations on the truck.

“We are looking forward to another fun and exciting day to enjoy the spring weather and hunt for great bargains.” BARC Vice President Rodney Reeser said. “It’s a great way to build our community.”
