Ss. Peter and Paul Easter Services

Lord’s Day Masses at Saints Peter and Paul Parish, 260 N. Third Street, Lehighton, begin on Saturday at 4 p.m. and Sunday at 7:45 a.m. and 10 a.m. Father Christopher M. Zelonis offers the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass with the assistance of Deacon Joseph C. Wilhelm Jr.

While reservations are not being taken, the church can safely hold no more than 75 people with social distancing, wearing of masks, and sanitizing practices in place. The parish hall (school building) live streams Mass from church and can fit an additional 25 people.

For those who are not ready or able to join us in person, each Mass is live streamed on our parish Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/sspplehightonpa, and on our website, peterandpaulchurch.com, and is available later on our parish YouTube channel. The cry room remains unavailable, but we love the sight and sound of children.

Parish Religious Education

The Parish Religious Education Program meets Sundays during the school year at 8:45 a.m. in the parish hall, observing all sanitary precautions. Contact Deacon Wilhelm at 610-377-3690 for more information.

Blessing of the baskets

Blessing of Easter Baskets on Holy Saturday at noon. Easter Vigil Mass at 8 p.m.

Easter Sunday Mass of the Lord’s Resurrection on Sunday, April 4 at 7:45 a.m. and 10 a.m.

Father will lead the Divine Mercy Novena on Facebook Live and the Parish website every day from Good Friday to Divine Mercy Sunday at noon. It is also available on YouTube for later participation.

The solemn Divine Mercy Celebration starts with the church opening at 2 p.m. for private prayer, followed by Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and readings from the diary of Saint Faustina, concluding with singing of the Divine Mercy Chaplet at 3 p.m. The faithful can receive a plenary indulgence, that is, removal of all the temporal punishment for sin, by participating in this devotion and fulfilling the usual conditions (Confession within a couple weeks, prayer for the intentions of the Pope, reception of Holy Communion, and detachment from all sin).

Spring Pie sale

Our Spring Pie Sale includes Blueberry Crumb, Peach Crumb, Banana Cream, Coconut Custard, Italian Ricotta Cream, and Shoofly, all 9-inch and fresh-baked by parishioners. Orders and payment due Friday, April 9 for pickup on Friday, April 16 from 4 to 6 p.m. in the parish hall. Order form is available on the parish website.

Communion

Please join in prayer for the eight young people of our parish who will be receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation from Bishop Schlert on Thursday, April 22 at Saint Joseph Church in Jim Thorpe.

Church roof

We are grateful for the progress made on our church roof. God willing, our rectory porch will be replaced very soon. All of this is in the interest of making SSPP a more Safe and Sacred Space, forming a community always eager drawn, and drawing others, into friendship with Christ.

Groundskeeper needed

We continue to need a groundskeeper for grass cutting and trimming in our parish cemetery. Work approximately 10-12 hours a week. Contact Carl Marzen at 610-984-7868 or ssppcem@gmail.com.
