The daring move of a 4-ton train depot along a busy state highway went off without a hitch early Friday and left all involved parties smiling.

Expert planning and attention to detail proved to be the difference as the quarter-mile excursion for the historic 1890 Lehigh Valley Railroad Depot took only a matter of minutes.

The depot chugged along Route 309 at less than 5 miles per hour, at all times under the watchful eye of a moving crew from Radocha & Sons, Coaldale, arriving at its new home next to the Sovereign Bank at the intersection of routes 309 and 895. Curtis J. Bailey was the project coordinator.
