Fern Ridge State Police - crashes

State police at Fern Ridge reported on the following crashes investigated by troopers.

• A two-vehicle crash occurred on Feb. 21 at 12:29 p.m. along Route 209 in Chestnuthill Township. Troopers identified the drivers involved as Keri J. Diangelis, 48, of Saylorsburg, driving a 2017 Audi A4, and Allen S. Graver, 56, of Wind Gap, driving a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The police report indicates Diangelis and a passenger with Graver, Cynthia L. Graver, 62, sustained suspected minor injuries but did not require transportation to a hospital. Troopers did not release any other details of the crash.

• A two-vehicle crash was reported at 11:20 a.m. on Feb. 14 along Route 115 in Chestnuthill Township. Troopers said Ronald J. Callahan, 61, of Effort, and Brendan C. Benzkofer, 22, of Effort, were both southbound. Benzkofer had his left turn signal on and was attempting to make a left turn onto Maltese Road. Callahan went around multiple vehicles and entered the northbound lane. Callahan’s 2019 Chevrolet Silverado truck struck Benzkofer’s 2017 Nissan Altima causing the Altima to spin and come to rest in the middle of the road. The Silverado continued northbound running over a sign and going into a ditch along the left shoulder of the road, coming to rest against two trees. Benzkofer and his passenger, a 14-year-old girl from Effort, suffered suspected minor injuries and were treated at the scene. Callahan and his passenger, Kathy F. Callahan, 56, were not injured. Both vehicles were towed.

Callahan was cited for the crash. West End Fire Company volunteers assisted at the scene.

• A Monroe County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence following a one-vehicle crash that was reported at 10:21 p.m. on Feb. 6 along Route 534 in Penn Forest Township, Carbon County.

State police at Fern Ridge said Christina E. Weedo, 36, of Bartonsville, was driving a 2010 Subaru Outback eastbound and negotiating a left curve when she lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle traveled across both east and westbound lanes before striking a tree along the berm.

Weedo was not injured. Troopers said she displayed signs of impairment. The vehicle was towed.
