FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP SUPERVISORS
Franklin Township supervisors took the following action on Tuesday:
• Adopted a stormwater management ordinance.
• Adopted a resolution establishing a fee for the storage/impoundment of vehicles at $40 per day.
• Agreed to have the township’s zoning officer file citations at the district magistrate office on properties at 230 Main Road and 2207 Indian Hill Road that received zoning violation notices.
• Approved the suspension of Employee No. 82, retroactive from Dec. 22, without pay. Supervisors said the worker is a road crew employee.
• Announced that the elected auditors met on Jan. 5 to reorganize, and approved the roadmaster wage increase of 3%.
• Awarded a bid for 10,000 gallons of low sulfur diesel fuel and 6,000 gallons of heating oil to George’s Plumbing & Heating, Palmerton.
• Approved the requests of three employees to receive Heart & Lung Benefits.
• Approved the reinvestment of the matured Jim Thorpe Neighborhood Bank CD which matured on Jan. 21. Reinvested back into Jim Thorpe Neighborhood Bank at the interest rate of 0.30% with the new maturity date of July 23, 2022, in the amount of $207,286.
• Approved the reinvestment of the matured PLGIT CD with Landmark Community Bank, which matured on Feb. 9. Reinvested into PLGIT CD with First Capital Bank, Germantown, Tennessee, at the interest rate of 0.25% in the amount of $248,000.
• Agreed to bid out a 1967 payloader.
• Reminded residents not to plow/shovel snow onto township roadways.
• Announced that a letter was sent to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation requesting a sign for Route 209 and Elm Street.
• Announced that an electronic recycling event will be held from 9 a.m. to noon May 15.
