Chestnuthill man charged after apparent overdose death

A Monroe County man is facing charges following an apparent drug overdose death.

State police at Fern Ridge said troopers were dispatched at 11:34 p.m. on Feb. 12 to 828 Fawn View Road in Chestnuthill Township after receiving an emergency call from a Kenneth Robert Svendsen that his girlfriend was unconscious and not breathing. On scene troopers were informed that the woman was deceased. Located near the female were cut straws with white residue, a blue baggie containing white residue, a glass smoking pipe containing suspected drug residue, a debit card with white residue, one pack of multiple razor blades, a scale with suspected drug residue, and a cellophane wrapper containing drug residue.

Troopers then obtained a search warrant for the residence. The search yielded additional evidence including a firearm, ammunition, additional drug paraphernalia, and three large vacuum sealed bags containing marijuana.

Troopers noted that Svendsen, 40, whose mailing address is Brodheadsville, is a felon and is prohibited from possessing a firearm.

Also on scene were three children, one 15 and two age 9.

As a result Svendsen was charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a gun, tampering with evidence, three counts of endangering the welfare of children and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Court records indicate he was arraigned before a district judge and was unable to post $100,000 straight cash bail and was committed to the county prison in Snydersville.
