Pa. reports 3,378 cases Wednesday

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed Wednesday that there were 3,378 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 880,291.

There are 2,890 individuals hospitalized with COVID-19. Of that number, 574 patients are in the intensive care unit with COVID-19. Most of the patients hospitalized are ages 65 or older, and most of the deaths have occurred in patients 65 or older.

Statewide percent positivity for the week of Jan. 29 - Feb. 4 stood at 8.6%

As of 11:59 p.m. Tuesday, there were 125 new deaths identified by the Pennsylvania death registry, reported for a total of 22,745 deaths attributed to COVID-19.

Through Feb. 9, 1,401,840 doses of vaccine have been administered to 1,084,502 people.

Local numbers

• Carbon County added 17 new cases since Tuesday for a total of 4,624. One more death was reported for a total of 135.

• Lehigh County has 29,211 cases, an increase of 81 since Tuesday, with three more deaths for a total of 720.

• Luzerne County has 23,742 cases, an increase of 80. There were seven more deaths, bringing the total to 679.

• In Monroe County, there are 23 new cases since Tuesday for a total of 8,981. Two more deaths were reported for a total of 253.

• In Northampton County, there are 106 additional cases, for a total of 24,719. Three more deaths were reported for a total of 602.

• Schuylkill County reported 11,554 total cases, 28 new cases. Two more deaths were reported for a total of 350.
