New hearing date is set for man in grandmother’s death

Another preliminary hearing date has been set for the Schuylkill County man charged in his grandmother’s death.

Kalvin Clark, 32, of Pine Grove, now has a hearing set for 10 a.m. March 25 in Magisterial District Judge David Rossi’s courtroom. It had been scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Feb. 18.

Clark remains in Schuylkill County Prison unable to post $250,000 straight cash bail.

State police at Schuylkill Haven charged Clark with aggravated assault and simple assault in the death of Sharon Zimmerman, his 73-year-old grandmother, last month.

The Schuylkill County Communications Center received a call 3:15 p.m. Jan. 24 for an elderly woman who slipped in the shower and had cuts. Schuylkill EMS responded at 3:17 p.m. to 89 N. Tulpehocken St. and found Zimmerman dead. Police were then called.

Police say Clark admitted he and the victim had an argument before her death. Charging documents detail what police say took place involving Clark and the victim before she died.
