Man charged with assaulting girlfriend

An Indiana man has been charged with assaulting his girlfriend.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by trooper John Heffner of the Pennsylvania State Police Lehighton barracks in the case against Charles Flemming:

At 5:50 a.m. Jan. 30, police was dispatched to a home on Maxine Drive in Towamensing Township for a domestic incident.

The victim, who was in the front doorway of the residence, had an inchlong cut on the right side of her neck. The cut was bleeding, red and swollen.

The victim said that she and her boyfriend, Flemming, 43, had gotten into an argument in the bedroom. She said Flemming grabbed her by the throat with one hand.

The victim said that she had pulled away from Flemming and suffered the cut on the side of her neck.

The victim said that Flemming then left the residence.

Flemming faces charges of simple assault and harassment.

He is currently free in lieu of $30,000, 10% unsecured bail, and scheduled to have a preliminary hearing Wednesday before District Judge William J. Kissner of Palmerton.
