Anthony and Susan Kowalick claimed a $2 million Mega Millions Megaplier second prize for the ticket they purchased in Binghamton, New York, for the Jan. 8 drawing. The winning numbers were 3-6-16-18-58 with a Mega Ball of 11. They matched all numbers and except the Mega Ball.

“We feel very lucky,” Anthony Kowalick said.

However, with the number 2 chosen for the Megaplier, which they opted to pay an additional $1 for, their winnings doubled by $1 million. The extra feature permits players to multiply a prize, other than the jackpot, by up to five times its original value.

The lump-sum prize is results in each receiving $671,800 after withholdings. The couple plan to invest and help their family with their good fortune, according to a news release from the New York lottery.
