Palmerton hopes to receive bare root trees to be planted in the borough park.
Borough council unanimously agreed last week to approve an application to apply for the Bare Root Tree program grant.
The Bare Root Tree program is through TreePennsylvania, the Pennsylvania Urban and Community Forestry Council.
If received, the grant through TreeVitalize is for up to 20 bare root trees.
Council President Terry Costenbader said he believed council had two options: Either give them to the residents, or utilize them in the parks.
Councilman Randy Gursky suggested the borough park.
Costenbader agreed, and explained why he believes they would be best served in the borough park.
“The park is really the focal point of the community,” Costenbader said. “And people do enjoy the park.”
