2021 primary election: Yackenchick campaigns for Schuylkill County controller

Sharyn (Hollister) Yackenchick, Wayne Township, announced she is seeking the office of Controller of Schuylkill County. Yackenchick will run in the Republican primary this May.

“My previous 20-plus year career in banking and current six years with the controller’s office being in charge of the pension administration … has prepared me for this moment.”

Yackenchick is a graduate of Blue Mountain High School and has an associate degree in accounting from the Schuylkill Business Institute.

“The controller’s office has been and will continue to be above the political fray. I respect the hardworking taxpayers of our county, and they deserve a controller who has their interest at heart.”

The controller’s office supervises the county’s fiscal affairs. The office coordinates the county’s annual audit along with auditing of the county row offices, local tax collectors and magisterial district judges. The office approves and processes all invoices for payment.

Yackenchick was appointed first deputy in June of 2020 by previous Controller Christy Joy.

After Joy’s resignation, Yackenchick assumed the position of acting controller while still being retained as the pension administrator.

Yackenchick is a lifelong resident of Schuylkill County and is the wife of Chuck and has three adult boys, Cody, Zack and Spanky.
