Pa. reports 520 more cases in Northampton County

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed Tuesday that there were 5,341 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 777,186.

There are 4,582 individuals hospitalized with COVID-19. Of that number, 950 patients are in the intensive care unit with COVID-19. Most of the patients hospitalized are ages 65 or older, and most of the deaths have occurred in patients 65 or older.

As of 11:59 Monday, there were 77 new deaths reported for a total of 19,467 deaths attributed to COVID-19.

Through Jan. 18, 477,929 doses of the vaccine have been administered.

Local numbers

• Carbon County added 42 new cases for a total of 3,938. There are 109 deaths, one more since Monday.

• Lehigh County has 25,758 cases, an increase of 217, with seven more deaths for a total of 612.

• Luzerne County has 20,879 cases, an increase of 116. There were five more deaths, bringing the total to 547.

• In Monroe County, there are 77 new cases since Monday for a total of 7,820. Deaths remain at 230.

• In Northampton County, there are 520 additional cases, for a total of 20,952. Deaths remain at 511.

• Schuylkill County reported 10,361 cases, an increase of 119. Deaths remain at 300.
