For the first time in over four decades, Palmerton has a new borough solicitor.

On a unanimous measure, borough council on Thursday appointed attorney Jenny Cheng to the post.

Cheng will succeed former borough solicitor Michael Ozalas, who had served in that capacity for the past 41 years.

Council accepted the resignation of Ozalas at a special meeting last month.

Cheng has served as the borough’s zoning hearing board solicitor.

As a result of her appointment as borough solicitor, Cheng resigned as solicitor of the zoning hearing board.
