2021 reorganization: Penn Forest selects new leadership

The Penn Forest Township board of supervisors will have new leadership in the coming year.

The board voted Monday to appoint Roger Meckes as board chairman during its annual reorganization meeting Monday night.

Meckes takes over for Tom Cross, who decided not to seek reappointment to his position. He said that he no longer wished to serve as chairman.

Cross nominated Meckes to fill the chairmanship.

Meckes was appointed to his current seat on the board last January following a resignation. He will be up for re-election in 2021.

Meckes was also reappointed as township roadmaster during Monday’s reorganization.

The board recommended his salary as roadmaster be set at $7,700, pending approval by the township’s board of auditors.

All five supervisors each receive an annual salary of $2,500, set by the Pennsylvania township code.

The board reappointed Supervisor Christian Bartulovich as vice chairman. They also appointed him personnel liaison and recommended the township auditors set his salary at $5,500.

Board meetings will be held at the township municipal building, 2010 Route 903, the first Monday of the month at 7 p.m.

If the meeting date falls on a holiday, the meeting will take place the following day.
