The Monroe County Commissioners signed a guaranty agreement in support of a $40 million bond issue that would finance the Monroe County General Authority’s proposed waste-to-energy project.
The board took the action despite opposition to the incinerator building project, which is to be built off Interstate 80 in East Stroudsburg, from the Pocono Environmental Club, which contends the authority has yet to receive clearances necessary to begin building the facility.
The environmentalists believe there is sufficient proof about the potential negative ecological ramifications once the incinerator operations began, to which Commissioners’ Chairman James Cadue called “bull.”
