Schuylkill inmate recovers from COVID-19

The prisoner who was diagnosed with COVID-19 while at the Schuylkill County Prison has recovered.

“During the course of the month of November, we did have one inmate test positive for COVID. They are now through their 21-day quarantine, showing no symptoms, and as of right now we are clear,” Warden David Wapinsky told the Schuylkill County Prison Board Wednesday.

President Judge William E. Baldwin said Dec. 2 Wapinsky had told him earlier that week of the positive test result. He said the prisoner was in isolation and not exhibiting symptoms. That was the first case of the virus at the prison.

Visitation of inmates has not been permitted since the start of the pandemic.
