The Carbon County Commissioners acted on the following items during their meeting on Thursday.

• Approved a funding award in the amount of $82,725 from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency for the Carbon County’s Intermediate Punishment Program for the term July 1 through June 30, 2021. The money will fund one adult probation officer, purchase of drug testing supplies, and treatment for offenders who are not eligible for medical assistance.

• Approved a funding award in the amount of $5,100 for the Senior Community Center in Weatherly from Nov. 15 2020 through Nov. 15, 2021.

• Approved the reappointment of Josiah Behrens of Jim Thorpe as farmer director on the Conservation District Board and Wayne Nothstein as the commissioner representative. Behrens’ term is for four years while Nothstein’s is for one year.

• Approved the reappointment of Barbara Romano of Nesquehoning to the Housing Authority. Her term is for five years.

• Approved a letter of authorization to allow the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency to work with the county’s telephone companies to obtain information regarding NG911 to allow for a smooth transition from Legacy 911 to NG911. There is no cost to the county.

• Adopted a social media and website usage procedure police for the county government departments use of Facebook and expanded use of department websites to enhance customer services, engagement and communication with county residents.

• Approved the termination of an agreement with St. Luke’s Health Network for adult day care services. The center will be closing its doors effective Dec. 9.

• Approved a lease agreement between the county and Supreme Properties Inc. for leasing space at Bear Creek Plaza, Jim Thorpe for the Penn/Kidder Senior Center. The five-year agreement ends Nov. 30, 2025 and will cost the county a total of $2,064.05 per month.

• Approved the submission of a Statewide Public Access Grant application to the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission in the amount of $155,500 for help with paving and restroom renovations at boat launch B at Mauch Chunk Lake Park. The county will provide a 50% cash match for the project.

• Ratified a temporary construction easement with Thomas J. Marsden and JMLS Inc., trading as MYST for a temporary easement during the 44/76 Susquehanna St. construction project at a sum of $10,000.
