Palmerton school board keeps same leadership

Kathy Fallow and Audrey Larvey will retain their roles as president and vice president respectively of the Palmerton Area School District board of directors following a reorganization meeting Tuesday night.

Both votes were unanimous.

“We worked well together so I’d like to continue that,” Fallow said in nominating Larvey after being re-elected president.

In two reappointments, Doris Zellers will be the board’s liaison to the Pennsylvania School Boards Association and Earl Paules will be the board’s alternate representative on the Carbon Career & Technical Institute’s joint operating committee.

Contribution change

Palmerton Business Manager Ryan Kish told the board Tuesday that the district’s contribution to CCTI’s budget would be increasing for 2021-22, while its contribution to Lehigh Carbon Community College’s budget would be decreasing.

“Our contribution to CCTI is set to go up $31,000,” Kish said. “That is based on the five-year historical average enrollment. We also had a $16,000 increased contribution in the 2020-21 budget.”

For LCCC, the district’s contribution is decreasing $2,068 after going down $6,000 last year.

In other action items Tuesday night, Palmerton’s board:
