Palmerton church plans walk-through live Nativity

A live manger scene with animals, live Christmas music and hot chocolate.

That’s what visitors can expect when they attend a walk-through live Nativity at Bethany Wesleyan Church in Palmerton.

The event will be held from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Saturday at the church at 457 Delaware Ave., according to Pastor Kathleen Dieter.

Dieter said there will be a live Nativity scene including animals, and added that guests can walk through the church to hear live music, to meet Santa, and get a cup of hot chocolate.

She said the event is a casual open-house style, and added there will be a fun game and prize for every kid who attends as well.

“We want to support the community and give families an opportunity to celebrate Christmas during the season,” Dieter said. “Also, we’re going to be supporting the toy drive for Palmerton; anybody who wants to donate a toy can bring it and we’ll make sure it goes to the toy drive.”

Dieter said the church considers the event to be its annual live Nativity.

“We’re also doing it to add to the festivities of the (Palmerton) tree lighting,” she said. “We wanted to support the community and add to the festivities.”

Dieter said she believes the event is the perfect attraction for those who wish to get in the holiday spirit.

“We would love to just give people an opportunity to experience some hope and Christmas spirit in the midst of all this by focusing on Christ, on this Nativity, and giving people an opportunity to celebrate Christmas even in a socially distant, healthy environment,” she said.
