Tuesday update: Pa. reports 5,676 more cases

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed Tuesday that there were 5,676 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 367,140.

There are 4,631 individuals hospitalized with COVID-19. Of that number, 970 patients are in the intensive care unit with COVID-19. Most of the patients hospitalized are ages 65 or older, and most of the deaths have occurred in patients 65 or older.

The trend in the 14-day moving average of number of hospitalized patients per day has increased by nearly 3,200 since the end of September.

As of 11:59 p.m. Monday, there were 180 new deaths reported in Pennsylvania for a total of 10,563 statewide deaths attributed to COVID-19.

Local numbers

Carbon County is reporting 1,366 cases, an increase of 30 since Monday. Two more deaths were reported for a total of 54.

In Lehigh County, there are 11,579 cases, an increase of 67 since Monday. Deaths are now at 385 after three more were reported Tuesday.

Luzerne County has 9,886 cases, 126 more since Monday. Twelve more deaths have been reported on Tuesday, which brings the running total to 285.

Monroe County has 3,449, an increase of 36. Five more deaths were reported for a total of 148.

In Northampton County, there are 9,199 cases, an increase of 95. Three more deaths were been reported for a total of 336.

Schuylkill County has 4,168 cases, an additional 42 since Monday. Two more deaths are attributed to COVID-19, bringing the total to 176.
