Thursday update: Pa. reports over 7,000 new cases

The Pennsylvania Department of Health reported 7,126 additional positive cases of COVID-19 Thursday, bringing the statewide total to 288,978. This is the highest daily increase of cases.

There are 2,904 individuals hospitalized with COVID-19. Of that number, 628 patients are in the intensive care unit with COVID-19. Most of the patients hospitalized are ages 65 or older, and most of the deaths have occurred in patients 65 or older.

The trend in the 14-day moving average of number of hospitalized patients per day has increased by nearly 1,700 since the end of September.

Statewide percent positivity for the week of November 6 – November 12 stood at 9.6%.

Local numbers

Carbon County reported 979 cases, an increase of 30 since Wednesday. Deaths remain at 40.

Lehigh County 9183 cases, an increase of 213. Deaths remain at 40.

Luzerne County reported 7,736, an increase of 181 cases. Two more deaths were reported, which brings the total to 238.

Monroe County reported 2,728 cases, an increase of 69. Deaths remain at 137.

Northampton County reported 7,311 cases, an increase of 168 cases. Deaths remain at 324.

Schuylkill County reported 3,175, an increase of 54. Three more deaths were reported, which brings the total to 144.
