Tamaqua extends break with virtual days

Tamaqua area superintendent Ray Kinder on Wednesday announced changes to the Thanksgiving break. On Wednesday, Nov. 25, classes will dismiss two hours early.

Upon return from break, Dec. 1 will be an asynchronous virtual day.

Dec. 2 will be synchronous learning for secondary and asynchronous for elementary

“The reason for the virtual days on Dec. 1 and 2 are to minimize the risk of contact tracing that may need to occur after the traditional Thanksgiving break. While we continue to encourage minimal gatherings that promote the spread of COVID-19, we hope that anyone developing symptoms from such events will be diagnosed prior to returning to in-person instruction. We hope to reduce any unnecessary quarantining of other students and/or staff,” Kinder said.
