PVEN holds toy program sign-ups through Nov. 30

Sign-ups for the 2020 PVEN Toy Program continue through Nov. 30.

The program is open to families with children ages newborn to 15 who reside in the Monroe County townships of Chestnuthill, Eldred, Hamilton, Jackson, Polk and Ross and meet financial guidelines established by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Food Distribution Emergency Food Assistance Program.

No sign-ups will be accepted after the deadline. Sign-ups will take place from 8-11 a.m. Nov. 20, 23 and 30 at the PVEN Community Service Center, 2334 Route 209, Sciota. The office entrance is in the back of the building on the lower level.

Those who are registering must bring all documentation when signing up a child. Documentation includes:

• Birth certificates for all children 15 and under and custody papers, if applicable.

• Current documents for 2020 verifying income for the entire household. Income tax records from 2019 will not be accepted. This includes but is not limited to: all household pay stubs, four if paid weekly or two if paid biweekly; public assistance records stating amounts received; disability benefits/SSI/Social Security for 2020; pensions; child support; and unemployment benefits.

• Verification of address by lease, mortgage, or property taxes - must have the year 2020 on the documents. Rent receipts or bills will not be accepted

All addresses must be a physical address and not a P.O. Box.

• Form of photo identification.

All approved participants will receive toys provided by the U.S. Marines’ Toys for Tots and Pocono Record’s Toys for Joy programs.

Additionally, those who signed up before Oct. 23 were able to make custom toy requests through the Angel Tree program that works with local churches and businesses to provide specific toys to children.

Toy distribution will be over several days from Dec. 16 to 18.

Due to COVID-19, all gifts will be selected in advance and bagged by volunteers for parents to pick up.
