More than 9,000 new virus cases since Saturday

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed Monday that there were 4,476 new COVID-19 cases reported as of midnight, in addition to 5,199 reported Sunday. The statewide total is now 269,613.

There are 2,440 individuals hospitalized with COVID-19; 531 of those patients are in the intensive care unit with COVID-19.

The statewide percent positivity for the week of Nov. 6-12 was 9.6%.

As of 11:59 p.m. Saturday there were 38 new deaths, and as of 11:59 p.m. Sunday, there were 13 more deaths. The statewide total is now 9,325 deaths attributed to COVID-19.

There are 8,655 individuals who have a positive viral antigen test and are considered probable cases and 644 individuals who have a positive serology test and either COVID-19 symptoms or a high-risk exposure.

There are 2,573,621 individuals who have tested negative to date.

Local numbers

Carbon County reported 906 cases, an increase of 44 over the 2-day reporting period. Deaths remain at 36.

Lehigh County reported 8,725 cases, which is an increase of 279. Deaths remain at 374.

Luzerne County reported 7,104 cases, an increase of 171. Death total is now at 230.

Monroe County reported 73 new cases for a running total of 2,598. Deaths remain at 135.

Northampton County reported 6,918 cases, an increase of 218. There are 323 deaths now.

Schuylkill County reported 2,955 cases, an increase of 128. The county has 134 deaths.
