St. John Neumann Walk-A-Thon raises nearly $38K

This year’s Walk-A-Thon held recently at St. John Neumann Regional School was historic for several reasons.

For starters, the annual event included a virtual component for the first time in the event’s illustrious history.

It also proved to be the most successful, as nearly $38,000 was raised, according to Principal Mary Comensky.

As part of the event, Comensky said students from both the Palmerton and Slatington campuses solicited donations from businesses and family friends.

“It has been such a blessing for St. John Neumann Regional School to have the support of so many wonderful families, generous benefactors and dedicated volunteers,” Comensky said. “Although we weren’t able to have our parents and families with us for the day this year, we carried them in our hearts.”

St. John Neumann Regional School is the only Catholic school in all of Carbon County and serves students from Palmerton, Parkland, Pleasant Valley, Jim Thorpe, Lehighton, Northern Lehigh and Northampton school districts.
