Walmart donates school supplies to Lehighton elementary

Christmas came early for Lehighton Area Elementary Center, courtesy of the local Walmart.

The store, located in Mahoning Township, donated over $10,000 in school supplies for use by students in the school.

Store manager Girvin Janicki reached out to the school inquiring about the need for school supplies.

“We are extremely thankful for the continued generosity of Walmart,” said elementary Principal Aaron Sebelin. “We have always had a great relationship with the management at Walmart and look forward to working with them in the future. Many of our students, parents and staff frequent the local store.”

Officials from the district, Sebelin said, went to Walmart to pick up the supplies.

The local Walmart has donated to the school on numerous occasions in the past, including $5,000 through a community grant last year.
