Pleasant Valley custodian tests positive

The Pleasant Valley School District sent out a notification to families Friday afternoon that a staff member in the high school has tested positive for COVID-19.

Superintendent Lee Lesisko sent the message out Friday afternoon after being notified of the case. The staff member works as a custodian.

“This individual works alone during non-school hours and has had no contact with students or faculty,” he said.

Lesisko said the district is continuing to follow its Health and Safety Plan and taking all the necessary safety precautions. The state Department of Health has been contacted and anyone who has come in close contact with the person has been notified.

“Operations at the high school will continue as normal,” he said. “We will continue transparent communication when there is a confirmed positive case of COVID-19.”

Since September, the school district has had a couple positive cases in staff at the high school, one student athlete at the high school, and a student at the elementary school. Both the high school and the elementary schools were closed for two weeks in early October.
