October 16, 1987 - Northwestern’s football program posts its first-ever win over Lehighton with a 13-6 upset on the Indians’ home field. The Tigers, coached by Bob Mitchell, erase a deficit and take the lead for good in the second quarter when Jason Hlavac breaks free for a 50-yard touchdown and Brian Good adds the extra point. The winners, who had lost 11 straight times to Lehighton, add insurance in the final frame when Eric Dalius plows into the end zone on a 1-yard run. The drive was keyed by a 37-yard pass from Lance Miller to Steve Clay. The Tigers’ defense comes up with three turnovers and two sacks, while also limiting the Tribe to just 76 yards in the second half.
