WEPOSC meets

The West End Park and Open Space Commission is to meet at 6:30 tonight at the Chestnuthill Township Park Building in Brodheadsville.

Auxiliary meeting

The American Legion Auxiliary is slated to meet at 7 p.m. at the Legion Post home in Gilbert. The executive leadership will meet at 6 p.m.

Outdoor adventure

Monroe County Conservation District’s Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center’s After School Adventures at Kettle Creek began today.

The staff at the Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center will venture out to the trails with various age groups of children for a fun-filled learning experience after school.

Age groupings available are: ages 3-6, ages 7-10 and ages 11-14. Preregistration is required and limited to 10 guests per age group.

The registered participant and one parent for ages 3-6 group only may attend the program. Registration for each program will close once program is full or the day before the program. Those who are not registered in advance will not be permitted to attend. Programs will start promptly at 3:30 p.m.

Payment is due at the time of program. Cash or check made payable to MCCD only. Face coverings must be worn by all attendees at all times. Building and gift shop are not open to public.

TOPS meetings

Take Off Pounds Sensibly in Kresgeville has resumed meeting at 6:15 p.m. every Wednesday at Cherry’s Family Restaurant, 593 Interchange Road, Kresgeville, PA 18333. Before the meeting attendees will weigh in from 5 to 6 p.m.

The TOPS group in Brodheadsville, Chapter 1346, meets at the Western Pocono Community Library from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Wednesdays.

Food available

Pleasant Valley Assembly of God Church, Brodheadsville, has partnered with Sysco’s Central Pennsylvania operating site for the distribution of USDA Farmers to Families food boxes.

Distributions will be at PVAG church from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday and Oct. 22 and 29.

There are four components packed in the box, delivered in Sysco’s refrigerated truck. Distributed will be 400 boxes which include: frozen meats (hot dogs), fresh produce, fresh dairy and a gallon of 2% milk.

First-come, first-served, as the church is unable to reserve or hold boxes.

The church is looking for volunteers to help distribute these boxes at the church from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

WELL meeting

The West End Little League is slated to have its open meeting at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Chestnuthill Township Park.

PVEN toy sign-up

Sign ups for the 2020 PVEN Toy Program have started. All clients must be registered by Oct. 23.

To register, call 570-992-3136 from 8-11 a.m. on a Monday, Tuesday or Friday. All toys will be prebagged and ready for pickup in December.

Soup sale menu

Effort UMC is having another soup sale. Being offered are roasted turkey vegetable as well as a broth-type soup (Nutrition Soup) with butternut squash, kale, sausage and a grain.

Men’s group meets

Effort UMC’s men’s group will meet at 9 a.m. Saturday in the church kitchen.

Garlic planting

The Garden of Giving in Saylorsburg (McMichaels) will be doing its garlic planting on Saturday. Anyone interested in helping can call the Garden at 570-402-1282.
