A look back: Sept. 29, 1990

The Kidder Township Volunteer Fire Company dedicated its new 1990 KME 1,250-gallon-per-minute pumper during a ceremony held last week at the fire station. State Rep. Keith R. McCall had the honor of christening the new vehicle.

Apparatus from approximately 30 companies participated in the parade that followed the dedication. The Albrightsville Volunteer Fire Company was awarded a trophy for the best nonsuburban mutual company while the best appearing tanker award went to the Towamensing Volunteer Fire Company. Other companies which were award winners included: Weatherly, best appearing mutual aid company; Franklin Township, best appearing pumper; and Freeland, best overall appearing company.
