NWL elementary closed because of COVID cases

Northwestern Lehigh School District closed Weisenberg Elementary Monday because of three positive COVID-19 cases.

The district said it was notified Sunday of the cases. One of the individuals was last in attendance last Tuesday, another on Thursday and the third on Friday.

“The PA Department of Health, in conjunction with school leadership, has determined that the Weisenberg Elementary School shall be closed on Monday,” the district said. “During this closure the building will be cleaned and disinfected according to our Reopening Health & Safety Plan.”

Online classes will continue until the department of health gives approval for opening, according to the district site.

The PA Department of Health is conducting contact tracing for this case, the district said.

Staff members and students who are deemed as a “close contact” will be directly contacted by PA Department of Health to self-quarantine.
