St. Matthew’s United Church of Christ will continue to worship Sundays at 9 a.m. in the grove until the weather gets too cold. The grove is at 124 Picnic Lane, Kunkletown, just up the road from the church and cemetery.

Layman’s Fellowship provided the funds for the recently paved driveway and walkways and some landscaping at the grove.

The virtual Sunday school class for ages 3 to fifth grade began on Sept. 13.

The website will be updated Saturday evenings and children can do class at any time. Anyone can take part in the class by logging on to: https://stmattsucckunkletown.com/sunday-school.

Pastor Suzanne Brooks-Cope and Norm Burger will lead Confirmation class. They will meet after worship on Sept. 20 to discuss class expectations and set meeting times for a weekday afternoon. The adult Sunday school class, Christians In Action, meets Sundays at 10:30 a.m. on the stage by the fellowship hall.

Monthly Friday fun nights will be held in the grove from 5 to 8 p.m. Parents are encouraged to stay with their kids. We will maintain social distance and wear masks, as well as sanitize surfaces.

• Sept. 25: Campout in the Grove. We will make hot dogs and s’mores on the campfire, do a scavenger hunt and watch a movie. Then go home to sleep in our own beds. Rain date: 5-8 p.m. Sept 26.

• Oct. 30: Howling Happy Halloween Party. Come in costume. Scavenger hunt for hidden candy and other treats. We will play low contact games like pin the nose on the witch and make hot dogs and s’mores on the campfire. Rain date: 10:30 a.m. to noon Nov. 1.

• Nov. 27: Merry Movie Night. Weather permitting, we will watch a Christmas movie and kickoff the holiday season. Bring blankets and dress warmly. Rain date: 5-8 p.m. Nov. 28.
