Time is running out to respond to the 2020 Census.
“We are in the homestretch of conducting the count, and we need your help to remind everyone to participate. Every response matters and the time to act is now,” a release from the Monroe County Planning Commission states.
In Pennsylvania, the census response rate is 68.6 percent, which is above the national average of 65.9 percent.
Locally, response rates are mixed with Monroe having a 53.8 percent rate; Carbon having a 60.2 percent rate; Schuylkill having a 64.3 percent rate; Lehigh having 74.9 percent and Northampton having a 76.1 percent response rate.
Article I, Section II of the U.S. Constitution mandates a count of the U.S. population every 10 years.
Those who have not responded yet can go to My2020Census.gov to complete the questionnaire by the end of September. It takes 10 minutes on average to complete. Respondents can also call 844-330-2020 or 844-468-2020 for Spanish.
