Tamaqua depot readied for visitors

Workers from the Reading and Northern Railroad are busy installing a row of five Victorian gooseneck lamp posts Monday afternoon as a train passes by the Tamaqua depot. The green cast posts match the green painted iron fence installed a few weeks ago. Workers also applied a protective coating to the new passenger deck. The final touches are happening just in time. Dinner excursions already have started bringing rail guests into town, and on Saturday dozens of vintage speeders railcars are expected to stop at 10:30 a.m. DONALD R.
