Schuylkill County was awarded a $488,335 Emergency Solutions Grant for COVID-19 relief money, County Administrator Gary Bender said Wednesday.

The county approved a resolution last month to apply for the money from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development.

He said the county was awarded the funds Aug. 21 that go to Schuylkill Women in Crisis ($47,700), Servants to All ($58,300), Catholic Charities ($45,138) and Schuylkill Community Action ($292,371).

Commissioners approved cooperation agreements with the aforementioned entities Wednesday.
