Pa. virus report: 496 new cases, overall total reaches 140,359

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed Tuesday that there are 496 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 140,359.

There are 7,791 total deaths attributed to COVID-19, an increase of 11 new deaths reported. In nursing and personal care homes, there are 21,464 resident cases of COVID-19, and 4,615 cases among employees, for a total of 26,079 at 948 distinct facilities in 61 counties. Out of our total deaths, 5,242 have occurred in residents from nursing or personal care facilities. A county breakdown can be found here.

Approximately 9,914 of our total cases are among health care workers.

One new case was reported in Carbon County, bringing the total to 432. The number of deaths remains at 28.

Lehigh County has 5,307 cases with 345 deaths.

Luzerne County has 3,898 cases, an increase of four, with 189 deaths.

Monroe County is reporting three new cases for a total of 1,742. There are 129 deaths.

Northampton has 4,176 cases, an increase of three. An additional death was reported for a total of 302.

Schuylkill County has four new cases for a total of 1019 cases and 51 deaths.
