Police report 4 crashes in 1 day

State police at Frackville reported troopers investigated four crashes in one day on Schuylkill County roadways, all on Aug. 24.

A crash was reported at 10:08 a.m. along Hazle Street, east of Buck Mountain Road, in Delano Township. Troopers said Dylan D. Robinson, 18, of Tamaqua, was driving a 1992 Mercury Topaz eastbound at a high rate of speed and lost control going around a left curve. The vehicle went onto the berm striking a utility pole where it came to rest.

Robinson suffered a minor injury and was transported to St. Luke’s Miners Campus in Coaldale, by Ryan Township ambulance. The roadway was closed due to the crash for a period time. The car was towed. Assisting troopers were volunteers from the Delano Township Fire Company.

Robinson was cited for driving a vehicle at a unsafe speed.

A crash was reported at 4:19 p.m. along Interstate 81 in Foster Township. Troopers said Joseph A. Rose, 76, of Lykens, Dauphin County, was driving a 2019 Dodge Journey northbound when the vehicle traveled into the median and hit a ditch. Rose was not injured but the vehicle was towed.

Another crash on I-81 was reported at 4:45 p.m. in Frailey Township. James Diorio Jr., 53, of Paxinos, Northumberland County, was driving a 2002 Ford Focus northbound when he said a Jeep passed him on the left lane during a heavy rainstorm. The Jeep then turned into the right lane, cutting him off and pushing his vehicle off the road. The Focus went off the road and hit a guide rail.

Diorio was not injured but the car was towed.

A one-vehicle crash was reported at 9:28 p.m. on the on-ramp to I-81 in Kline Township. Tyler A. Loop, 31, of Pottsville, was driving a 2020 Toyota Camry southbound on the ramp when the car struck a guard rail. Loop and his passenger, Linda Sosa, 21, also of Pottsville, were not injured. The vehicle was towed.

Troopers cited Loop for the crash.
