Drivers cited in Monroe crashes

State police at Stroudsburg cited area drivers were cited in the following Monroe County crashes:

• Kyle A. Brennan, 25, of Henryville, was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed after a two-vehicle crash at 7:54 a.m. Aug. 26 on Seven Bridge Road in Smithfield Township.

Police said he was driving a 1997 Honda Civic southbound and failed to slow down for a vehicle in front of him that approached slowing traffic.

Police said the Civic struck a 2017 Nissan Titan operated by Wayne W. Getz, 53, of Effort.

Neither driver was injured, police said.

• Both drivers in a crash along Route 715, at the intersection with Mountain Road, in Jackson Township, at 5:12 p.m. on Aug. 22, sustained minor injuries.

Police said Marvin R. Hawkins, 69, of Stroudsburg, operating a 2005 BMW 330i, was eastbound on Mountain Road while Jule M. Gearhart, 30, of Effort, was southbound on 715 driving a 2013 Nissan Rogue. Hawkins proceeded from the stop sign without clearance, causing the Rogue to hit his BMW.

Hawkins was treated at the scene by West End ambulance personnel while Gearhart was taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital - Pocono, East Stroudsburg.

Troopers cited Hawkins for a stop sign violation.
