Carbon County man sent to state prison for violating Megan’s Law

A Carbon County man was sentenced to a state prison term on Thursday after admitting to violating the conditions of Megan’s Law as a convicted sexual offender.

President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II sentenced Larry Steven Hadley, 57, of Lehighton, to serve 40 to 80 months in a state correctional institution on a charge of failure to verify address and be photographed, a felony 2. In exchange for the plea the district attorney’s office agreed to drop felony 1 counts of failure to comply with registration of sexual offender requirements and fail to register with the state police.

Hadley was arrested by Mahoning Township police after they received information from the state police that Hadley had failed to register his current address as required and be photographed as a sexual offender. Police arrested him in August 2019.

Hadley entered his plea via video from the county prison where he has been held since his arrest, failing to post bail. He was given credit for 365 days spent in jail to date on the charges. He was also ordered to pay court costs of about $1,000.
