Lansford joins Panther Valley project

Jesse Walck, business manager for Panther Valley School District, attended Lansford’s meeting Wednesday night to ask for help in fixing the parking lot for the school.

Coaldale agreed to assist Panther Valley at Tuesday’s meeting.

After the board discussed street plans, such as removing manholes at the intersection on Bertsch, Walck said the parking lot situation at the school is “as bad or worse than any streets you’ll find in any of the boroughs.”

Walck proposed a shared service agreement in which Lansford would provide a few days of manpower to help with the road reparation project while the school got them access to a paver for their use.

Board member William Chuma said he was concerned that the project would not be finished in just a few days. He said they would have to dig it out and put base on it, which would take more time than Walck and Panther Valley projected.

Walck said that Panther Valley custodians will be cleaning up the parking lot for days before they call Summit Hill, Lansford and Coaldale to the site.

The board decided to make a motion to help Panther Valley, and President Bruce Markovich said Chuma will have final say on how long Lansford provides manpower when it comes time.
