A look back: Aug. 6, 1984

In an antitrust lawsuit decision, International Distribution Centers Inc. has been awarded $39.6 million from another apparel hauler, Walsh Trucking Company Inc. of North Bergen, New Jersey.

IDC, formerly Interstate Dress Carriers, has its main office in Secaucus, New Jersey, and its main terminal along Route 902 in Mahoning Township.

The award was given following a jury trial in federal court in New York City in which Walsh and a group of related companies were found guilty of attempting to monopolize the apparel trucking trade in the New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania areas.

IDC alleged it lost 200 customers after the Walsh firm hired away five of its executives.
