No new details in death of man found near tracks

Family members and the public will have to wait for more details on the death of the Landingville man found July 26 in Wayne Township.

An autopsy scheduled for Chad Evans, 43, at The Dauphin County Forensic Center, Harrisburg, July 30 didn’t occur, Schuylkill County Coroner Dr. David J. Moylan III said Monday.

He said the condition of the body would not likely yield extra information, something determined by pathologist Dr. Wayne Ross.

Moylan said Ross examined the photographs of Evans and the report of the virtual autopsy done at The Simon Kramer Cancer Institute, New Philadelphia.

A cause and manner of death has not been determined, Moylan said. State police had requested an autopsy. Moylan said they were notified of the recommendation not to do one.

Moylan said previously the man had “no apparent injuries.”

“There was the presence of drugs and drug paraphernalia on the scene, which means we may be dealing with drug intoxication,” he said.

He sent a blood sample to a reference lab for toxicology tests. Results are expected in two to three weeks.

Blue Mountain Reading & Northern Railroad train operators found Evans on the tracks just south of East Liberty Street on July 26.

Police have not released additional information on his death.
