A look back: July 29, 1988

Robert P. McCoombs, Lehighton R.6, a retired Carbon County Conservation District executive director and now a member of the district’s directorate, has been selected to be honored as the 1988 Outstanding Conservationist of the Year, according to Howard Frey, district chairman.

Others to be honored are Clark Schoenberger, Palmerton R.1, conservation farmer; Michael Siddlow, Mahoning Elementary School, teacher; Michael Huber, L.B. Morris Elementary School, Jim Thorpe, distinguished service; the Pioneer Flower Club, conservation organization; and the Pocono-Northeast Rural Conservation and Development Association, outstanding conservation activities.
