Nesquehoning council holds off on paving project agreement with school

Nesquehoning is holding off on a joint agreement with Panther Valley until further discussion can take place.

Last Wednesday, borough council was asked to enter into a shared agreement with the school district with regards to a paving project at the high school parking lot.

Councilman Frank Jacobs questioned what the district was looking for and noted that the borough doesn’t have a complete borough work crew to be able to provide assistance for such a project.

RoniSue Ahner, borough secretary-treasurer, said that she was told it looks like the district was looking for labor help for approximately one to two days.

Solicitor Robert Yurchak said that Summit Hill recently unanimously signed a joint agreement with Panther Valley for shared resources on projects.

He noted that this would include the district using Summit Hill’s street equipment to complete the paving project.

Councilwoman Mary Fox said she was not currently ready to make a decision on this request.

The board made no motion and took no action at this time.
