A look back: July 15, 1985

Highlighting the annual West Penn Fair festivities being held on the grounds of the Andreas Fire Company this past weekend was the dedication of two new pieces of equipment by the firefighters.

They dedicated a mini-pumper and a 750-gallon pumper-tanker, the latter having been purchased for $12,000 while another $14,000 was spent by the company to refurbish it. The tanker-pumper has a 1,800-gallon capacity in its stainless steel tank.

The mini-pumper was purchased for about $34,000 without equipment and has the capacity to pump 500 gallons per minute.

Alan Parker was master of ceremonies for the dedication while Lea Everett, fire company president, spoke of her family’s history with the company.
