A look back: July 13, 1984

Personnel appointments highlighted Thursday night’s meeting of the Jim Thorpe Borough Council.

Jack Miller, 307 South Ave., was appointed zoning and building codes enforcement, succeeding Dennis “Pat” Dolan, who resigned.

Al Klitch Jr., 603 Pine St., was named to the Municipal Authority, filling a vacancy created by the death of John Otto.

Councilman Thomas Wildoner was delegated to serve as the borough’s gypsy moth eradication coordinator.

Miller’s appointment was favored by Patrick McGinley, Ronald Confer and David Newton while Carol Witt favored Nolan Wernett. Francis Marzen did not vote, saying he is opposed to zoning, while Jay Miller abstained since Jack Miller is his brother.
