Driver flown to hospital after truck flips on 248

One person was flown Monday morning from the scene of a crash on Route 248 outside of Parryville.

State police at Lehighton said Barry N. George, 63, of Blakeslee, was stopped in a 1996 Ford F250 truck at a stop sign on Centre Street at Route 248 while Sabrina M. Kemmerer, 18, of Catasauqua, driving a 2009 Nissan Versa, was approaching the intersection.

George began to cross over the westbound lanes in front of Kemmerer. Kemmerer’s vehicle struck the passenger side of George’s truck causing the truck to spin 180 degrees and flip onto the driver’s side. George was ejected through the rear window and landed on the roadway underneath the Versa, troopers said.

George was flown to St. Luke’s University Hospital Bethlehem Campus, while Kemmerer was taken by ambulance to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest. George was cited for the crash. COPYRIGHT LARRY NEFF/SPECIAL TO THE TIMES NEWS
