This weekend all the churches of the Allentown Diocese will be able to increase worship capacity up to 50% while continuing to observe all previous directives of wearing masks, safe distancing and sanitizing/cleaning after every Mass. At Sacred Heart in Palmerton, our seating capacity moves from 80 to 160. We still require all worshippers to call the Rectory to reserve a seat for the weekend Mass you will attend.
Weekday Mass continues to be offered at noon. The church will remain open to 3 p.m. for private prayer. Confessions are offered by appointment only. To schedule, please call Father Bill at the Rectory: 610-826-2335.
Sunday 9:30 a.m. Mass will continue to be livestreamed. All parish information, including our weekly bulletin, is available at www.shcpalmerton.org.
Parishioners are asked to continue to make all rectory needs by phone or internet to the office staff. If you require to meet with Father Bill, Deacon Girard or Staff, please call to arrange a time to meet in the parish center.
This weekend we will celebrate the 14th Sunday in Ordinary Time. Our readings remind us of Jesus’ gentle and humble heart who came to bring peace to all people; something it seems our world is in much need of.
A decision was made not to participate in this year’s Palmerton Festival on advice of the Diocesan Insurance Director because of the uncertainty of COVID-19 status and the liability potential that we could face. It is our hope to return to the festival in 2021.
The parish extends its congratulations to our parishioner, Peg Duell for receiving “The Shield of Sparta” award in recognition of spouses of infantrymen and soldiers whose conduct merit recognition.
